Smotherman Urges Leaders To Be Prepared, Should Thompson Run For President

  

 

Cromer Smotherman addressed the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Commissioners during their business meeting Thursday regarding the possibility that native Fred Thompson may run for president.

   Smotherman explained that he represented a group of individuals who wished to emphasize, “readiness in the event that we may play host to a presidential candidate.”

   “None of us have any direct knowledge about or control over whether he will decide to run,” Smotherman explained, “But we want to be ready…Our community would be displayed nationwide…”

   Smotherman told commissioners, “I feel as a total community we have lost some of our closeness and enthusiasm. We are trying to change that.”

   According to Smotherman, a “Coming Together” meeting has been planned for 5:00 p.m. on June 14 at the Lawrenceburg City Administration Building. The meeting is open to any local resident interested in bettering the community.

   “We would like for different groups to come together,” Smotherman stated, “And say, ‘this is what we’re doing’…The act of rebuilding our spirit and our readiness is a great investment for us.”
